defbootstr link=ad320

Controller=0
Bus=0
Disk ID=0
Lun=0

Adaptec AIC-7902 Dual-Channel
    Ultra320 SCSI

when sco issue this warning it is because the disk controler is different from the original machine.

to correct this issue you need the boot and root diskettes created from the OLD computer and the "BTLD" driver for the new disk controler.

on the new computer, boot with the diskette using the following command:
defbootstr link=ad320 root=ad320(0,0,0)

where "link=ad320" stands for the driver name
and "root=ad320(0,0,0,0)" tell sco what the hard drive address is. (controler #,bus #, disk id#, lun always 0)

This example is for an adaptec SCSI 320 controler, you need to adapt the command according to the controler installed.

PROBLEM: What LSI Logic Host Adapters are supported by the lsil Host Bus
          Adapter driver?

NOTE: This driver package is to be installed on:

                  SCO OpenServer 5.0.6a, 5.0.7

SOLUTION: These drivers are available at the following URL:

          ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/openserver5/507/drivers/lsil_1.03.28/

          Modification History
          ********************
          5.0.6, 5.0.7 - Updated driver version from 1.03.27 to
                         1.03.28, 9/14/04
          Changes from 1.03.27:
o Check Nvram data and limit Domain Validation activities
                   if requested.
          Defect fixes:
o Accommodate disk drives with capacity greater than 64 GB
          ********************

To install these drivers, follow these instructions:

          1. Aquire the driver from the ftp address listed above.

            - Download the btld image to a directory/file on your
              machine. For example, /tmp/lsil.btld.img

            - Verify the downloaded image using sum.

                 sum -r /tmp/lsil.btld.img

              This should return:

                     50483 2880 /tmp/lsil.btld.img

            - Format a floppy disk using the format command.
              # format -v /dev/rfd0135ds18

            - Copy the downloaded image to the floppy:

                 dd if=/tmp/lsil.btld.img of=/dev/fd0 bs=18k

            - Verify the copied floppy image using sum:

                     sum -r /dev/fd0

              This should return:

                 50483 2880 /dev/fd0

2a. Fresh Installation on Primary Drive

             - Insert a boot disk or Installation CD and boot the
               system.

             - At the boot prompt, type:

                     defbootstr link=lsil

             - Press and continue with normal installation.

2b. Installation on a Secondary Drive

             - Boot and Login normally.

             - Mount the floppy image:

                     mount -r /dev/fd0 /mnt

             - Use the BTLD Install script to install the driver:

                     /etc/btldinstall /mnt

Once the kernel has been relinked, reboot the host and
verify that is initializing the card. The boot time
        banner should look something like:

%adapter 0xec00-0xecff 11 - type=lsil ha=0 slot=0 bus=0 id=7 fts=sto

When the adapter is installed and the boot-time banner is
properly displayed, you may use the appropriate mkdev
script to add a disk, tape, or cdrom to the SCSI and/or
        Fibre Channel Bus.
